| Our
behavior when we are faced with illness reveals our
increasingly deepening insanity and passiveness. If
allopathic medicine has imposed itself in such a dogmatic
way, it is because each protagonist - sick person, physician,
pharmaceutical industry - knows his own interest in
it. Nevertheless two major factors are opposed to the
mission of recovery claimed by this therapeutic method.
Illness, we persist in forgetting it, reveals malfunctioning.
It becomes manifest by symptoms which the physician
tries to identify with the help of sophisticated analysis
if needed, so as to determine the type of disease and
the organs affected by it.
The gap of this real medical doctrine usually comes
to light after this first diagnosis. Systematically,
once the disease has been identified, the physician
intervenes with the help of drugs. The first major mistake
is not to pay enough attention to the way the disease
has developed in the sick person's life. However this
is the only way to be able to understand malfunctioning
which is actually the real reason of illness.
The second mistake lies in the treatment
of disorders. Prescribed drugs at the best blur momentarily
the undesirable effects of disease, but don't heal.
Real recovery can only be obtained with understanding
and a scrupulous respect of fundamental Laws of life.
One can't claim to cure a disease simply by inhibiting
its symptoms ! Disease is the expression of a malfunctioning.
To remedy it, identifying its perverted effects is not
enough, you have to above all find out the reasons for
it. We have to identify our deficiencies and overindulgence,
actually to call into question our behavior, so as to
understand the origins of illness.
Very widespread diseases such as cancer,
ulcer, cardiovascular disorders, obesity, high blood
pressure,… are mostly the product of our way of
life. We are not a "victim" of illness by
accident. Quite the opposite : by our behavior, we meticulously
pave the way for illness. And taking a collection of
medicines or having an operation is not enough to claim
to have recovered !
Actually the therapist whose aim is
to heal sick persons must act in a totally different
way. The approach leading to recovery consists in tackling
the real reason of illness, not its symptoms. This implies
it is necessary for the sick person to be totally involved.
For the therapist, it is often necessary to identify
illness and its origins, only the sick man can and must
change the way he lives if he truly wants to recover.
As we are responsible for our illness, we are also responsible
for our recovery.
But in the medical care system of our
western societies, co-operation between sick people
and physicians is absurd, and is totally negative. It
consists in placing the physician in the position of
the one who cures whereas the sick person in a passive
role simply has to be disciplined and follow scrupulously
his prescriptions in order to obtain recovery. Worse,
if because of his disorders, he needs traumatizing surgery,
he will be asked, at best, to cooperate and to be brave
when faced with sufferings. Whereas you have to use
positively and dynamically the sick person's energy
and willingness so that he can succeed, with the humble
help of the physician, in recovering. A quite different
vision…
As for medicines, they should only
be used secondarily, and with parsimony, if they turn
out to be really indispensable. But in institutional
medical approach in the West, we have reversed it all.
The sick man limits himself to a passive role and contents
himself with taking drugs supposed to cure him. The
physician as for him, after having identified illness,
tries to eradicate symptoms with a more or less important
amount of his "miracle products". These ones
will not fail to cause more or less "unwanted side
effects", speaking the cryptic jargon much used
in this profession.
No, identifying someone's illness is
not enough to claim to cure him. The therapist must
be able to discern the malfunctions which caused it.
It means that he knows precisely the fundamental Laws
of Life, with which our behavior has to be in perfect
harmony, to ensure health. This approach of health encompasses
many points.
The most important are our diet, our physical health
and our pace of life. Diet includes the type of food
we eat, as well as its quality and the way we eat. Physical
health concerns internal and external personal hygiene,
but also means to be fit in general. Our pace of life
includes our different rest phases with our activities
in the daytime. Besides, we must take special and continual
care to our psychological, emotional balance and to
our spiritual growth. Finally, our relationship with
our environment - nature and all the living beings -
is essential for health and balance in general.
Looking at these different points,
one can realize to what extent our "health"
system has wandered off its original purpose, which
is to cure. And for very good reasons ! The three main
reasons of this drift are inherent in every people involved
in the medical system : the sick man, the pharmaceutical
industry, and the physician.
The first one makes do with this kind
of treatment for it does not require much effort. One
lets oneself go and, depending on each individual case,
lives a totally sedentary life or has a hectic pace
of life, and one spends one's time in enjoying the numerous
pleasures of the senses. As for the repercussions on
health, resorting to medicines of all kinds is the usual
approach. The excessive use of allopathy has considerably
perverted medicine making it a complice of our malfunctioning.
The more we resort to products which inhibit illness
effects without changing our way of life, and the more
we help the causes of illness growing.
This is the way taking drugs for our
overindulgence has become usual! We also swallow pills
to be sure to sleep "well" and others to wake
up better ! Actually insidiously the drug assumed to
fight illness becomes very often its best ally in the
long term. Sick people are thus seduced by the easy
way out and the short term in this passive therapy.
Financially, health is today more than
ever a flourishing industry, a big business, and drug
manufacturers aim mainly at profit, not health. They
are not sponsor firms. It is obvious, the purpose is
not to cure but to sell medicines. As others sell food,
cosmetics, travels,… they sell medicines. Sick
people are, for these business concerns, nothing more
than customers, consumers. That is to say, the more
they take medicines, the best customers they are. Consequently
therapies which consist in helping sick people to heal,
thus in freeing oneself from allopathic medicine's hold,
go against the interest of the powerful pharmaceutical
lobbies. A society of healthy people is a sick pharmaceutical
industry ! And vice versa…
This is for this major reason that
these lobbies are so dogmatic and try to use all the
possible means so as to marginalize the other forms
of therapy which do not resort to them. This hegemonic
attitude is motivated by mercantile aims and has not
much to do with the noble ideals of the origins of medicine…
But the danger as far as health is concerned is truly
monumental. For the commercial strategy of these lobbies
is dreadfully efficient.
For example, it is known that the more
you "train" a consumer to be used to a type
of product, the more chances you have to keep him as
a client, that is to say : to make him dependent. The
big companies of fast food know it very well, they attract
kids in their restaurants using the most appropriate
means which were carefully examined with thorough market
studies. This is why they associate their image with
emblematic characters and don't hesitate in offering
children all kinds of toys and gadgets to attract them
and so that from very young they consume the food and
drinks of their heroes !
Cigarettes manufacturers act in the
same way. Because young people are more fragile due
to their lack of experience and in search of ideals
and models, they sell dreams through products which
are nothing but legal drugs. But the dream will turn
into nightmare, and these dealers do not care in any
way about that.
Health system is a similar case. Prescribing,
among other things, antibiotic drugs to children from
the age of two or three onwards for simple colds and
other ordinary disorders has become "normal".
One of the most serious consequences is that the child
can not develop properly his own immune defences but
on the contrary weakens excessively. From then on, disorders
become frequent. The child becomes addicted to drugs
for life, which is the aim sought by drug sellers !
That's how you prepare the new clientele of consumers
for the future…
This criminal behavior, let's not forget it, is made
easier by the arbitrary legitimacy and dogmatic position
of allopathic medicine.
In this macabre mercantile game, parents
are the first ones to be responsible. Selfishness is
accredited and praised through our education system,
which prompts individuals to opt for comfort given by
the medicines which suppress rapidly the inconvenience
of a sick child at home. That's true that helping a
child to recover naturally needs more care and attention.
It causes sleepless nights and requires parents' solicitous
care. In short it implies an attitude of responsibility
and devotedness. All the contrary of the present trend
in our society which preaches a total abdication of
one's responsibility and an extreme selfishness.
Pharmaceutical sector, notably in France,
has two fabulous assets to optimize its sales compared
to other forms of trade, hence its power. On one hand,
the partial or total reimbursements of medicines. A
godsend, for the physician can prescribe more medicines
without any financial compensation for the sick person
due to the perverted game of reimbursements. On the
other hand the legitimacy of this therapy gives rise
to abuse as one can't imagine in other activities.
"Health" lobbies can be compared
to the ones organized Churches. With the power of legitimacy,
they reinforce their dogmatism, and are always ready
to denounce and to fight against different opinion movements.
The example of "cults" is eloquent concerning
this matter. This word has become pejorative and is
used in a very pernicious way to discredit to the eyes
of public opinion many associations which are not more
sectarian nor intolerant than their "lawful"
like, called Churches. Be that as it may be, these "cults"
can't compete in the horrible deeds committed in the
name of faith, with these official Churches who however
claim to be the apostles of Religion and Love.
Our medical system functions on the
basis of an abusive legitimacy and monopoly. Its main
weapons are money and the active or passive complicity
of governments which are subjected to it. Insincere
and arrogant, they frequently use disparagement and
make accusations against other therapies. They try to
frighten people about medicines known as alternative.
To do that, they don't hesitate in highlighting some
unprincipled charlatans to throw confusion. With much
hype, they are shown wrongly as representative of the
"other" forms of medicines, the ones which
are not considered as "lawful". This is the
way they heap opprobrium on other therapies and new
paradigms often very relevant and efficient, with the
sole aim of preserving a monopoly which is a guarantee
of profit for established lobbies.
As for physician's intervention, making
a prescription after a quick diagnosis is obviously
more profitable for him than looking into the cause
of the sick person's disorder and pointing out the necessary
changes in his attitude. Moreover, general practitioners
and most of the specialists have not been trained for
that. They've been taught to make a diagnosis and to
prescribe medicines. Even if that's true that some of
them secondarily give some advice, it is not their therapeutic
approach which consists in prescribing medicines. This
method enable them to count more customers during the
day and consequently to make a better turnover. Profitability
is finally the one which lays down the law.
In this big health market, the physicians
are the privileged "salesmen" of pharmaceutical
industries. They sell the product "medicine".
The laboratories will be responsible for the promotion
with the help of "initiatives" often very
doubtful, using their influence with the prescribers
network of hospitals, clinics, drugstores and independent
practitioners.
The core of this perverse situation
of Health is precisely money. Money is the one which
lays down the law and more generally all men's laws.
Have you noticed that the few times in France, and many
other countries, when government takes measures to reduce
medicine consumption, it is not for health reasons.
No, just a question of money. The increasing number
of prescriptions surely makes pharmaceutical industries
wealthier, but raise the chronic deficit of organisms
in charge with the reimbursement of health costs.
Thus it is only for financial reasons
that so-called consciousness-raising initiatives were
led with physicians to reduce the numbers of medicines
in their prescriptions. However, if for other reasons,
as cupidity, a more important consumption of medicines
becomes again more profitable, they simply do the opposite.
As it happened recently. Reassuring, isn't it ?!
Morals in our society, is totally subjected to the power
of money.
In front of this hardly glowing situation
of our Health system, fortunately there are alternatives
all the same. But before resorting to them, I would
advice that you carefully look, by yourself and without
prejudice, at the way you behave. Open your eyes and
"look" at your environment and your behavior.
For if awareness can be brought about by other people,
it must come from you to be efficient. It must come
from your own understanding. Once you get to this awareness,
try methodically to change your way of life. Mere common
sense and willpower will help you take your first steps.
For the very first thing is to call
oneself into question, and not only the "system".
It is slightly simplistic and practical an attitude
to avoid taking on one's responsibility, but one doesn't
heal this way. Truth is completely different. We gave
birth to it and thus are individually responsible for
our society and all its aberrations. We have to get
out of the inertia in which we lazily let ourselves
go.
Take on first the responsibility of
your health and be the leading man - or woman - of your
own recovery before asking for anyone's help !
That's the first step which truly leads
to Healing.
