| Truth
cannot be revealed to those who approach the master
only with their mind, their intellect. The encounter
with the master is necessarily an antagonistic situation.
Truth of which the master is an echo seems foolishness,
madness, and lies. The darkness engendered by mind cannot
stand the light that springs from an awaken consciousness
because this light would annihilate itself.
This is the reason why Truth can not be unveiled to
those who try to grasp it with their mind. Then the
master cannot be understood, and he is considered as
a lunatic, a crazy man.
Truth cannot be revealed either to those who meet the
master mainly to be understood and acknowledged. These
ones are looking for support, for attention, they are
in search of someone who will listen to them attentively.
They actually need a friend. But the master cannot be
their friend.
For the master is the friend of the soul, of consciousness,
not of the ego.
So those who want to become the master's friend go the
wrong way, because it is their ego who wants that and
the ego is precisely the "enemy" the master
will help you fight. In other words, if you simply want
to be the master's friend, you will never receive the
quintessence of his message. The master can only pass
it on to a disciple. Not to a friend. Because one day,
the disciple will become the master's alter ego, his
brother, his sister, whereas the friend will remain
no more than a friend.
Truth cannot be revealed to those who
are in search of a master for a confrontation with the
intention of proving themselves that they are equal
to the master on the spiritual path. Those who come
to the master in order to compare themselves to him
may find similarities with him. They can even discover
themselves more learned than him on several subjects.
That will make them believe even more strongly that
there is no difference between them and the master.
This self-delusion will be all the more important that
they know that no master, as great as he may be, is
superior to the most humble among men. Besides they
also know that the real master is not outside them but
inside.
And they know above all that they are masters themselves
!
And all this is true. However, they
forget an essential point.
This point is that it is not easy to reveal the inner
master by oneself. It is almost always necessary to
resort first to an outer master before reaching the
inner master. Because he knows how to break your shell,
your ego, so as to free the master within you. And those
who approach the master with such a state of mind have
not a mere shell but a carapace which is not easy to
break, especially when they want to do it on their own.
Truth is unveiled to those who go at
the feet of the master, that is to say to listen and
learn in all humility. Because these ones, in spite
of appearances, are not fools - on the contrary, they
are on the path of wisdom. To show humility is much
more difficult than acting with arrogance and pretentiousness.
Those who put their ego down at the master's feet, listen
to the master with their heart and beyond human appearances,
can see the divine in the master, will one day be able
to reveal the divine in themselves.
Spiritual teaching is passed on from master to disciple
since the mists of time, because it is the purest love
relationship from the human point of view. It is unconditional,
it is based on faith and intuitive intelligence, it
is the very essence of relationship based on love. And
Truth can only be revealed in an atmosphere of true
love.
If you aim at Truth and wish from all
your heart to elevate, then meeting the master will
unfailingly happen to you one day.
However what this meeting will bring
to you depends on your state of mind at that very moment.
This is why the question to ask oneself
before this encounter is : how shall I approach the
master ?
With the assurance of my ego ? Shall
I go and meet him as a friend ? Shall I compare myself
to him, or sit down at his feet ?
And for the ones who have already met
the master, the question is : how did I approach the
master ?
