| The ecological
situation the world is living today undoubtedly represents
a turning point in mankind's history. Our civilization
is faced with an ecological disaster without precedent,
which reminds us that Nature's ability to regenerate
is not unlimited, and that our future is inextricably
linked to our planet's ecological health. It is established
today that climate change results in a growing number
of natural disasters which themselves bring about greater
misery in the poor countries and serious economical
and social troubles in the so called "rich"
countries.
Many realize that Man has gone too far in his frantic
search for profit and "progress". However,
great changes still have to occur so that our awareness
of this problem result in decisions and concrete action.
As a matter of fact, the meeting of the rulers of the
world to discuss the climate change and the negotiation
about the measures to take so as to reduce the greenhouse
gas emissions are not reassuring as for the future of
the planet.
And after the meeting and conferences which have taken
place for several years, the unfulfilled promises and
vain resolution of the countries no longer mislead anybody
now. And nation's will to solve the problem is so weak
that the last conference ended in a total failure.
Sadly, the reality is that economical
and political interests drive nations to prevaricate,
bargain and incessantly postpone the action to take.
This unconscious attitude, based a materialistic approach
and devoid of respect for Nature, hampers all the serious
action that should be taken, regardless of the ecosystems
and at great risk to the whole mankind.
This foolishness illustrates, on mankind's scale, the
serious spiritual crisis human being is faced with to
renounce the selfish and destructive ambitions of his
ego, so as to let his consciousness guide his choices
and action.
