"How
difficult it is to speak freely about religion ! Yesterday
you were burnt or crucified when you dared to believe
in it, today you can have you throat cut or be shot
if you do not believe in it. The love of one's neighbor
is really subtle, isn't it ?
Why have the religions which pretend to advocate love
of one's neighbor become lethal weapons in the hands
of many men ? Would the height of compassion be : "
I'll kill you if you don't believe in me and you don't
apply my precepts" ?
We all have an answer deep within ourselves
to these questions but most often we don't dare to express
it. Anyway, things are not going very well. Jesus, Mohammed,
Buddha, are really dead, as well as the essence of their
religion, at least in the mind of most of men. One thing
is certain : today there are religious instruments,
instruments of power.
Nevertheless, religions were born from
the same source, the one of love. What men have done
with it, every one is free to see oneself or not in
it. The essence of religions which is Love is the essential
message. It is actually the only message.
And this is That which will guide you
and will make you chose the way you will behave in your
life. Be total, unconditional love, and you will know
what religion is. Whatsoever its name or the shape it
may take, it doesn't matter when it stems from Love,
to serve Love.
Religions can be means for some people
but not an end in itself. Religions in their essence
spring from the heart which is within each of us. Open
your heart, discover love which is your deep essence
and you will be at peace with yourself, thus with others.
If you need morals, laid down instructions,
then you don't know what love is. For when we are within
our inherent state of Love, we can not be mistaken in
our every day life. There is no need to repent, to listen
to sermons or to follow morals, love is our true guide.
It is life. There is no need to write it, to study it,
it is within us.
Whatsoever the means to succeed may
be, if you chose the religious way, and the religion
you chose doesn't matter, do not mix up the aim which
is Love and the means to reach it. That makes the difference.
If you spend your whole life in prayer without knowing
the reality of love, you have not grasped the true meaning
of prayer. Love is tolerance, what about your religion
? Love is freedom, what about your religion ? Love can
not be dogmatic, how is your religion ?
Do no forget that a path is to lead
you somewhere. Do not mix up the religious path and
your destination, the one of your heart.
True religion is love, and Love is
the true religion.
Never forget that !"
